In the recent years 'safeguarding' measures to ensure the health and wellbeing of all children has become an increasing focus in the early years.

Supporting Children's Health and Wellbeing helps early years students and practitioners working with children and young people gain an understanding of the key issues relating to children’s health in particular, examining the possible ways in which health can impact upon young children’s early childhood education and care.

Packed full of practical advice for the everyday realities of the early years classroom, topics discussed include:

  • Historical perspectives and contemporary issues related to child health

This text is an excellent read for any student or practitioner entering the field of early years. With differing theoretical perspectives throughout the last decade, this text clarifies some of the main key principles. I particularly like the section on how we can link theory to practical application as this will help students identify the key concepts when working in industry.

This is an invaluable and insightful book outlining specific support for children's health and well-being. This enable students working with children to understand the key issues of children's health and well-being. The book covers a variety of topics which are very relevant in today's society and links well to both Early Years and Health and Social Care studies. The Policies and Legislation are all current and up to date. Each section has plenty of case study examples and reflection topics to aid class discussion and support learning/assessment.
