Sage has an agreement with Jisc for subscribing Jisc institution members to cover open access article processing charges (APCs) for affiliated corresponding authors. The UK Jisc Agreement, open to all UK institutions who are consortium members, will run between 2023 and 2024. The details of the UK Jisc Agreement are as follows:
To qualify for the agreement, the corresponding author must be affiliated with an institution participating in the UK Jisc agreement and have an article accepted for publication between January 01, 2023, and December 31, 2024. The participating member institution list is available here.
Subscription journals: Corresponding authors publishing an article in 900+ subscription journals in the 2024 Sage Premier package*, as well as in the IMechE Journal Collection and the 2024 Royal Society of Medicine Collection, which offer hybrid open access publishing (Sage Choice) can be published open access, free of charge. Charges other than the author article process charge (APC) may still apply, please refer to individual journal submission guidelines.
(*Eligible authors from The University of Manchester, University of Cambridge and University of Liverpool can publish in our Premier 2022 package.)
Authors in subscription journals do not need to take any action to benefit from this offer. As soon as an institution is set up as part of the agreement, Sage will contact all eligible authors to inform them of the Open Access agreement with Jisc and to invite them to the Sage Open Access Portal to take up the offer as soon as their accepted article has been received into Sage’s Production department.
Gold open access journals: Corresponding authors publishing an article in a gold open access journal are also entitled to a 20% discount on the prevailing article processing charge (APC) for that journal. Click here for the participating Gold journal title list. This discount will be applied automatically in the Sage Open Access Portal. Where an author is eligible for more than one discount, discounts cannot be combined but the highest discount available to the author will be applied to the APC due.
Information for Institutions: Institutional administrators or libraries can find more information on this offer and how it works by viewing this slidedeck and Q&A document.
