A comprehensive core text and introduction to theory and practice of counselling and psychotherapy
This has been a staple text for our undergraduates for many years, and the 6th is a welcome revision, particularly relevant to 21st century living and the IT age. Mindfulness is also a big buzz for our students and they will be pleased to see this included also.
This book is packed full of factual information about key counselling theories. The common subtitles within chapters such as ‘Key Concepts’ and ‘Process of Therapy’ make is easier to directly compare different theories. This layout makes it easy to navigate and refer to as a reference tool. Case examples help relate theory to practice and the review questions at the end of each chapter help readers to evaluate their understanding of each theory. This book is a useful resource for both teachers and counselling students in comparing different counselling theories.

Wonderfully easy read for anyone undertaking a counselling course. Lots of very practical information and suggestions about how to work with clients and develop a meaningful therapeutic relationship. A great go-to book to give the reader a good over view of the stages and skills of therapy and great prompts to additional reading in every chapter. well worth reading.
