I really enjoyed reading this book and found it useful and informative. It is well laid out and easy to read. I particularly enjoyed the Reflective Activity sections in the chapters, allowing me the opportunity to reflect as well as the students.
Well done, this book has been a good source of detail to support students in their independent studies and several units on both the BA and FdA in Early Years. This is placed on the reading list to supplement and widen students knowledge.
This is a clearly written book which gives clear and helpful information for learners to understand.
Excellent resource!
A useful introduction to the topic as a starter to any degree.

A wide-ranging book which covers a lot of ground. Case studies and examples from international perspectives were interesting and well selected. The book would be useful across a range of modules, rather than for one specific one.
A good introductory text which provides signposts for the reader to follow and expand knowledge on chosen aspect; good range of reflective activities; particularly like the sections on the child in the socio-cultural context and international approaches
This is an excellent book. It covers many of the various topics required for the course. It clearly explains child development and the different stages. Easy to read.
This is good introduction to the field and provides a useful and varied range of perspectives.
This is a very accessible and user friendly text for students currently studying on early childhood studies programmes. It not only emphasises and reminds us of the key themes that have shaped early years practice, but it also draws on recent research to help make these essential links between theory and practice. There are also activities throughout the text which are very valuable in extending thinking and enabling reflection of the many issues discussed. These include play, the role of the family within society, and practice and provision within the UK and abroad. The section on 'the professional as a researcher' is also an invaluable addition to help support students with the research process.
