Jayanthi Iyengar is the former chief of Bureau of the
Economic Times, New Delhi. As a bureau chief and financial editor, she covered several Indian budgets and interviewed successive Indian finance ministers, senior bureaucrats and business leaders. During her 30-year career as a journalist, she worked with several Indian newspapers, including the
Times of India, the Economic Times, Business Standard and
the Pioneer. She was also a columnist for the
Hindu Business Line and
the Maharashtra Times. During her brief stint as a freelancer, her work has been published in four continents, including North America, Europe, Australia and Asia. She has covered China, India and East Asia extensively and has written on a wide range of subjects, including finance, Indian tax and corporate laws, capital markets, retail, financial engineering, cards technology and business. Currently, she is pursuing her doctorate at Symbiosis International (Deemed University) in media studies.
