Alex Luscombe is a PhD student at the University of Toronto in criminology and junior fellow at Massey College. His research interests include policing, national security, and freedom of information law. His SSHRC-funded dissertation research comparatively examines the privatization of national security intelligence in Canada and the United States. His past work has appeared in Social Forces, British Journal of Criminology, Sociology, Canadian Journal of Criminology & Criminal Justice, Police Practice & Research, International Political Sociology, Criminology & Criminal Justice, Qualitative Research, Policing & Society, Government Information Quarterly, Canadian Journal of Communication, Policing: An International Journal of Police Strategies & Management, Research Ethics, Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research, and a handful of edited volumes. He is a member of the editorial board of Criminological Highlights, a University of Toronto publication aimed at providing criminal justice practitioners with an accessible overview of recent criminological research.
