An essential and invaluable teaching text on terrorism. Not only does Martin provide an historic and contemporary insight into terrorism in a clearly structured and detailed manner, he also positions each chapter from a pedagogically discursive perspective making the text an ideal student and teacher workbook for stimulating debates and firing creative thought.

English: For seminars / lectures, which deal with terrorism, this work of Gus Martin is a very recommendable book (for students and for University teacher). Whether it concerns events in political science, or at seminars in the field of political geography, this textbook illustrates very well structured all major causes, characteristics and (social) impact of terrorism. Particularly commendable is the didactic preparation. It can be found visually appealing and well understandable tables and graphs and chapter summaries, tasks and references. As far as I'm concerned, I can say that me this comprehensive work is enthusiastic and highly recommended for students due to the methodological presentation.

This textbook is an outstanding resource for any course exploring aspects of terrorism. It is very easy to read, and offers up-to-date examples. It is particularly relevant to level three and undergraduate students.

It is particularly relevant to courses exploring globalisation and crime. It offers outstanding depth of analysis for courses such as Access to HE or Public Services.

The textbook offers an introduction to terrorism, before exploring key aspects such as international and domestic terrorism, terrorism by the state and the role of the media. As well as offering analysis on the future of terrorism in a globalised world.

Offering analysis on this emerging area, this textbook offers everything a student need to understand terrorism and its changing form in the 21st Century.

I would highly recommend any institution offering courses exploring aspects of this field to use this outstanding resource.
