In this episode, join Mark Peterson as he explores the sustainability practices that benefit companies, consumers and stakeholders holistically, and considers how this sustainable and macro mindset can be fully embedded in marketing pedagogy. Peterson dissects the role faculty can play to encourage their students’ interest when teaching sustainable marketing. To help with this, he also discusses his textbook, Sustainable Marketing: A Holistic Approach, now in its second edition.
Professor Mark Peterson served as the editor of the SAGE-published journal, Journal of Macromarketing from 2016-2019. He is the author of ‘Using Macromarketing to Teach Business Sustainability’, published in 2021 in the Journal of Marketing Education (also SAGE). His research has been published in such highly regarded outlets outside of marketing (such as Business Strategy and the Environment, Energy Policy, Sustainable Production and Consumption), as well as a host of leading journals in the realms of marketing, policy, entrepreneurship and business. He currently teaches courses in sustainable business practices, marketing analytics and marketing management at the University of Wyoming. He teaches across all levels – undergraduates, masters and doctoral students. Mark was a Fulbright Scholar at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey in 2006. He received his Ph.D. in Marketing from Georgia Tech in 1994.

Debbie Haski-Leventhal is a Professor of Management at Macquarie Business School and an expert on corporate social responsibility (CSR), responsible management education (RME) and volunteerism. She is the author of Strategic CSR: A Holistic Approach to Responsible and Sustainable Business and The Purpose-Driven University. She is a TED speaker and a public speaker on purpose, social responsibility and the future of higher education. She has published over 60 academic papers and her work is often covered by the media, including The New York Times.

He is a long-standing contributor to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative and founder of the Center for Responsible Management Education (CRME).
