'[T]here is a sense of newness and innovation about the book, whereby the reader is treated to insight into the life and work of collaborators who wrote each case study....[T]he book is highly accessible for students at graduate and undergraduate level, for example BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies students' - ESCalate
Researching with Children and Young People covers every stage of the process of doing a research project, from research design and data collection, through to analysis and writing up.
The book is divided into three sections, in which the authors cover:
- Introducing research and consultation with children and young people
- Collecting and analysing data
- Whole-project issues.
Each chapter includes activities, discussion questions, tips and extended case studies to help the reader to engage with the material and investigate the practical implications.
This text will be of great use to postgraduate researchers in education, social work and nursing, and any practitioner involved in carrying out research with children and young people.
A good book with some exellent case studies but too narrow in focus and content for recomended reading.
This is a book i would recommend for anyone considering research with children and young people. It highlights many relevant areas and its section on ethics is the best i have seen written. Clear, concise and thought provoking - a very good text for students.
This is a helpful book for people who are researching in this context. It provides a rigorous yet accessible introduction to the topic and highlights some of the important ethical and other issues that researchers in this field need to take into account.
This is such a good book! It is accessible and yet detailed. I very much like the writing style and will be informing my students of it immediately!
A very useful book for students starting out in small scale research with children.
A thorough and well written book. A useful text for my third year group conducting a small-scale research project.
an excellent text that gives students practical thoughts as well as sound theoretical knowledge
This text offers very useful advice for researchers working with children. As such it will be of benefit to some of our students, depending on the nature of the research they are intending to carry out. However, we will not be adopting it as a core text.
This text will be useful for students embarking on their own research journey. The presentation of actual research projects in a different format to academic journal articles is a useful adjunct for final year dissertation students.
The case study approach is likely to provide helpful exemplification to inexperienced u/g researchers
