Jai Seaman, Publisher
I have over 12 years’ experience publishing innovative books and digital pedagogic tools at SAGE. Given my background in ancient literature and mythology this might seem odd but I am a keen advocate for research methods in the social sciences and the way they can both inspire and explain. I am now Senior Commissioning Editor with experience of publishing a wide range of bestselling titles across numerous methods and disciplines, and into almost every country in the world. I believe that research methods empower students to ask good questions and to see the world in a new way. High quality research tools enable researchers and academics to challenge and change society; I am thrilled to be involved in producing books and digital resources to support this aim.
Please contact me if you have an idea for a book or if you would like to discuss a proposal or project. I am always happy to answer questions and to hear from academics in any department or country looking to write a research methods title – quantitative, qualitative or mixed method, big data or single case study, digital or muddy field - I would be pleased to hear from you.
Alysha Owen, Commissioning Editor
After spending a few years working across editorial, design, and marketing departments at trade publishers and moving from the US to work in Barcelona and Berlin as a writer-in-residence, I joined the SAGE London methods list in September 2015. My commissioning focus primarily surrounds qualitative and mixed-methods research, as well as action research and literature reviews, but I’ve had the privilege of working across a diverse array of print and digital methods products and welcome the chance to discuss any type of methods project. Strategizing and brainstorming ideas with social scientists about how we can better support their teaching and research is an immensely rewarding process, but the real delight stems from the fact that I have the chance to work with so many talented, imaginative authors who have dedicated themselves to helping students get excited about research methods. Outside of being an editor, I moonlight as a cake decorator, fiction author, horseback rider, and dance enthusiast.
Michael Ainsley, Commissioning Editor
Michael commissions across Research Methods as well as Media & Communication Studies, and at the intersection of both, with interests in computational social science, social media research methods, digital and visual methods, and core social research methods.
