We are entering the new golden age of journalism - and here is a great resource for journalists wishing to seize its opportunities. This is the book that untangles the jargon and sets out the route-map for how the social network can enable us to become major contributors to the multiplatform digital age. The right message, the right time - this is the right book for taking advantage of it all.
This is a brave book. How social media and journalism overlap and interact is a vital area for analysis. It's a rapidly evolving part of the media industry but this book meets the challenge head on - with spirit and personality.
A clear easily accessible read.
This is a solid introduction to the use of social media in journalism. It outlines the key aspects well and deals with both the theory of their use and how they are used in practice.
Wonderful resource for my students. It is easy to follow. I love it!!!
This is an excellent book on how journalists can use social media as a powerful tool for newsgathering and dissemination. Journalism students will find this a very readable, informative and professionally essential guide.
Social Media for Journalists is very helpful and practical. It is easy to understand and applicable. A good guideline to the course.
But recommended to another course leader.
Excellent text, well-written and covers all key components of a very fast moving aspect of journalism.
I teach social media and this book breaks down each section, into small chunkc. Its is a little advanced for my learners, but still provides them with much needed insights into social media
A timely introduction to the role that social media has to play in journalism. This excellent book offers practical approaches to using an essential tool in an industry where multi-skilling is the norm.
An overview of journalism practice in the digital age, but with a greater focus on news than some of our students require.
I have recommended to my course librarian that we order several copies of this book. It will be recommended to students for the module 'Building Audiences' and 'Radio Journalism'
Just the book I was looking for! An excellent intro to all those new tools available for budding journalists. Well written and free of jargon.
A fascinating and fast changing topic that is well covered in so many ways by this text. It is as bright and lively in its presentation as the topic itself. It covers the two areas of citizen journalism and traditional journalism in an in-depth way that shows how the edges between these worlds are blurring, and it does it so well that it makes it relevant/essential for people working in either aspect of journalism, or those studying either aspect.
This is an extremely informed and detailed book that will be useful to students of journalism. The authors have taken a broad approach towards evaluating the signficance of social media that encompasses practical and academic considerations. This makes the book useful; across a rnage of modules but also ensures that the most recent developments have been covered. The authors do so in a fluent and engaging way to the extent that students can see the application and signficance of a range of social media towards the contemporary practice of journalism.
