This text has always been useful but in its updated form it now retains currency. Students have found this book very helpful - especially those who may have found Maths challenging in their own school days!

This book is listed as a core reading text for the students. It is clearly laid out and helps the students clarify their understanding of the subject/topic, in preparation for teaching.

This book provides general students with a solid foundation for building up their maths knowledge and understanding for teaching at primary level. The research focus at the end of each chapter provides an added level of interest and the self-assessment questions aid the student in gauging their understanding. The learning and teaching points will also help students put their understanding into the classroom context.
This is such a valuable book for students' own subject knowledge that I encourage them to invest in a copy for themselves
