This book covers many of the current approaches, issues and trends within modern-day Counselling and Psychotherapy. It is research-informed, and it’s contributors are the current leading proponents and researchers in their field. This is a useful volume, for all who work in the field of psychological healing, to have on their professional bookcase as a source of reference and referral.
The earlier editions of this comprehensive Handbook were the best and most comprehensive of the overviews of the discipline. Encyclopaedic in its scope, this new edition is exceptional in providing expert introductions to updated and brand new chapters by leading scholars. It is an essential reference for browsing and for concise reviews of everything practitioners and students might need to find out more about in the field.
The latest edition of this classic reference work is encyclopedic and authoritative, but filled with pithy descriptions and lively examples. It is both deeply rooted in the history of the field and up-to-date with exciting new entries. The editors should be proud of the gift they have crafted for the current generation of counselling and psychotherapy students as well as practitioners.
Bringing new insight into contemporary presenting issues, approaches and provision, this updated Handbook presents a stunning collection of material about every aspect of modern-day counselling and psychotherapy. The range of perspective and the standard of authorship is simply breath-taking, and the book is a gold-standard reference text for trainers, providers and trainees alike.
Very enjoyable, highly informative and a book that I highly recommend, during training and beyond.
This is a great source of information for students. A wide variety of established authorities have contributed meaningful chapters.
This is an excellent text which my students will benefit from immensely. It covers a wide range of relevant theories and topics and the writing is both thought provoking and accessible at the same time. The additions in this fourth addition are very welcome.
An extremely detailed and authoritative text which takes a contemporary perspective on issues within counselling and psychotherapy, with good use of case studies throughout to illustrate the practical application of theory.
This is an excellent primer for counselling students and those from a wider range of professions who wish to develop their knowledge around different therapeutic traditions. highly recommended.
A very detailed text which is well laid out. Good case examples and coverage of relevant research.
Very impressive book. A large and comprehensive review of the field, Informative and clearly written.
This enormous tome does capture a cross-sectional view of the counselling and psychotherapy professionals today. The chapter authors are thoughtfully chosen, and there is a reliable rigour about the information presented.
However, the amount of chapters necessitate that each one is very succinct, almost to the point of unhelpfulness. For example, six pages on clinical supervision in a book this size is not sufficiently nuanced, and does not do justice to the subject's importance. I would have liked to see more depth.
The Sage Handbook of Counselling and Psychotherapy is a valuable resource for students on my Undergraduate Programme. This is one of the books that I recommend to them as a 'go to text' throughout their three years of study.
This fourth edition is a comprehensive guide and not only is it informative but also stimulating for students starting their journey in therapeutic practice.
This book is a fantastic resources for anyone interested or working in the therapeutic field. As well as a reference guide this is also a pleasure to read through and explore even for the experienced practitioner with up to date research and establish methodology.
