Silverman's 5th edition almost needs no reason for adopting simply by the fact that it is his 5th edition!
He writes in an engaging way and presents his ideas and suggestions to the reader as though they were in a tutorial with him. The layout on the pages makes the different sections easy to pick out. The case studies provide many excellent examples that help the reader to understand aspects of the theory. The 'tips' provided are very helpful. This is a book that in interpreting qualitative data, you would feel safe with and use for guidance all the way though a project.

This text book is helpful for students when they are making decisions about which modes of analysis to use. I like the the rich examples given - it makes qualitative data analysis less of a dark art!
