Leila Harris University of British Columbia, Canada
Leila Harris is an Associate Professor in the Institute on Resources Environment and Sustainability and in the Institute for Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice at the University of British Columbia. She also serves as Co-Director for UBC's Program on Water Governance. Her work examines social, cultural and political-economic and institutional dimensions of environmental and resource issues, especially in developing contexts. Current projects focus on the intersection of environmental issues and inequality / social difference (especially gender and ethnicity), water governance shifts (e.g. marketization, participatory governance, and feminist approaches), in addition to a range of water governance challenges (e.g. First Nations water governance in British Columbia, and equity and narrative dimensions of the human right to water). Contexts for this work have included Turkey, South Africa, Ghana, and Canada.
