Kwang-Hyun Cho Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea

Dr. Kwang-Hyun Cho is a Professor and Head of Department in the Department of Bio and Brain Engineering at the KAIST and a director of the Laboratory for Systems Biology and Bio-Inspired Engineering. Before he joined KAIST, he was an Associate Professor at the College of Medicine, Seoul National University, Korea until 2007. He was the recipient of the IEEE/IEEK Joint Award for Young IT Engineer, National Young Scientist Award from the President of Korea, and Walton Fellow Award from Science Foundation of Ireland. He has become a member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology in 2018. He has been working on systems biology for biomedical applications, complex biological network control to identify novel drug targets and to challenge the problem of reverting tumorigenesis and aging, and bio-inspired engineering to apply biological principles discovered from systems biology to unsolved engineering problems. His innovative contribution to systems biology and bio-inspired engineering research by combining an engineering approach with biological experimentation has led to numerous high-profile international journal publications.
