Geraldine Donoghue Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia

Geraldine Donoghue is a sociologist and research fellow in the School of Design, Creative Industries Faculty at Queensland University of Technology. She holds a BA (Honours 1A) and is in the final year of her doctoral research. Her research centers on the sociology of risk, place and the social dimensions of aging. In her role as research fellow, she is currently undertaking research as part of the Australian Research Council–funded longitudinal qualitative research project, “Inside Aged Care”: responsible for working with Associate Professor Evonne Miller in coordinating the overall study, including all aspects of communication and the diverse data collections, analyses, interpretations, and theoretical developments and publications. Recent publications have focused on the methodological, ethical, and sociological aspects of employing visual methods in research with older adults, the lived experience of aged care, and on the social theory of risk. She is the co-convenor of the Risk Society thematic group for The Australian Sociological Association and is a member of the International Sociological Association and the Australian Association of Gerontology.
