Fredi J. Giesler Idaho State University, USA

Fredi Giesler (MSW, PhD) earned her PhD in social welfare in 2002 from University of Washington in Seattle, WA. Prior to earning her PhD, she was a practicing social worker in the area of child and family welfare. She worked as the program manager for the Washington Council for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect for 10 years and served as the chair of the Legislative Action Committee for the Washington state chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. From 2002 to 2018 she was a faculty member at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and served as chair of the Department of Social Work from 2012 to 2018. She has served as chair of the Legislative Policy Committee for the Wisconsin chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. Recently, she has taken a position as director of the new Master of Social Work program at Idaho State University in Pocatello, ID. Her research interests include social welfare policy practice, violence prevention, and intervention program evaluation. She is most interested in developing a passion for research in her social work students.
