Evonne Miller Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia
Evonne Miller is an environmental psychologist based in the School of Design, and Director, Research Training for the Creative Industries Faculty (CIF). She graduated with a PhD (in Psychology, University of Otago) in 2004, and her aging-related research focuses on understanding and facilitating quality of life for older adults, with over 30 publications in this area. Recent publications have documented the lived experience of aged care, from the perspective of residents, family, and staff. Her aging-related research focuses on understanding and identifying the predictors of quality of life, social connectedness, and active aging, with recent projects exploring the experience of disability, role of residential locality (retirement village living vs. “ageing in place” vs. aged care), and leisure-time physical activity. In acknowledgement of her leadership in aging research, she is a fellow (2012) and distinguished member (2009) of the Australian Association of Gerontology (AAG), Australia’s largest multidisciplinary professional association of people working in the diverse fields of aging. She was co-conference chair of the AAG’s National Conference in 2012 (Ageing: Challenging the Boundaries) and has held an array of leadership roles, including National Honorary Secretary (2006-2009) and President of the Queensland division (2008-2011).
