Barbara Mae Gayle (Ph.D., University of Oregon [organizational communication; communication theory]; M.A. & B.S., University of Portland [communication; communication management) was a 2001-02 Carnegie Scholar. She is interested in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and its implication for enhancing the classroom climate. Her research efforts focus on SoTL, instructional communication, conflict, and organizational communication. She teaches communication across the barriers, negotiation and conflict and organizational research. Gayle has published in the Journal of Applied Communication, Women's Studies in Communication, Communication Research Reports, Journal of Communication and Religion, and Management Communication Quarterly. She is one of the editors of the new book Interpersonal Communication Research: Advances through Meta-analysis (Erlbaum).
