Ashok Kumar Queen Mary University of London, UK

Ashok Kumar is on a Leverhulme Trust-funded fellowship at the School of Geography at Queen Mary, University of London. He received his PhD in Economic Geography from Oxford University in 2015 and has taught at a number of universities including Oxford and summer courses in Cambridge. His previous research includes a study of the Sri Lankan working class as well as research on landless peasant movements in Karnataka. Ashok has published widely on a number of topics including social movements, labour-capital relations, race, violence, industrial relations, and globalization. In addition to Society and Space, Ashok sits on the editorial collective of Historical Materialism and is the project editor of City: analysis of urban trends, culture, theory, policy, action.
