Play is an essential part of learning and development for children and is an increasingly important aspect of creative approaches to teaching and learning in primary education. This book includes wide ranging aspects of play including recent and relvant material. As an introductory text the content is useful for undergraduate and postgraduate courses for practitoners. Generic aspects of play are presented succinctly. Especuially useful is the attention to older puils. Succinct case studies enhance the overll content. The role of adults is clearly outlined and the often difficult area of assessment is discussed. Overall, the book addresses current concerns and requirements for all areas of th UK.
