A very good companion to support courses and modules related to leadership with effective cases studies linked to UK practice and styles. Topic based questions which promote discussion about key theories and models. It has enabled myself and colleague to plan areas of the foundation degree module as literature presented in this text is current and valuable to practitioners in a variety of employment disciplines.
Very informative and up to date, offers examples and case studies to keep the reader engaged and stimulated.
This book is not suitable for the academic level of students, on the particular programme.

Fantastic practical explanation and discussion surrounding theory of leadership. The focus has application to leadership in the wider sense, with touches of healthcare.
This book shows how to make the kind of difference that all organizations, both public and private sector, want and need. Early chapters show the powerful effect leadership can have on organizations, subsequent chapters present new ideas that are elegantly simple, conceptually coherent and radically different, based on the best research in the field. The ideas in this book have also been tested in major multinational organizations over recent years.

A really well written and balanced British book that gives an excellent overview of the main theories regarding leadership current best practise. A must have for Business Students.
Interesting book, well put together and laid out. I particularly like the fact that it does not focus too heavily on leadership theories (which is covered extensively in other texts) but focuses more on the application of leadership. I particularly like the chapter on leadership development issues.

Preferred the Northouse book
I would use this for second or third year undergrad rather than the first years. Very in-depth.
A recommended book that outlines the theories of leadership in a clear and concise manner.
On reading, the text is not fully appropriate for healthcare students. Very good overall introduction, however.
