What is open access?

Open access content is made freely available to under the terms of a Creative Commons licence. Open access publication is usually subject to payment of an article processing charge (APC) paid by the author, institution or funding body.

Sage Journals content dates back to the mid-nineteenth century and may contain language and ideas that were once accepted by the scholarly community but are offensive or harmful. While recognizing the importance of preserving the historical record, we are addressing potentially harmful content in our archive on a case-by-case basis as we become aware of it.

Open access continuous publication

Many open access journals operate in a continuous publication (CP) mode where articles are posted online as soon as they have completed the production process in a fully citable form with a universal digital object identifier (DOI). At this time articles are free to view and download for all.
