Applying social science subjects such as psychology, sociology, social policy and research methods to Early Years can help to raise standards and ensure good practice. There is an excellent chapter with this text on researching in the early years. It provides a very good practical overview of the different approaches to research.

I was quite disappointed with this text as the title does not (in my opinion) match the content and the book is irrelevant for level 5 students and above. The quality of the paper seemed poor as well.
