As the official journal of the ‘Indian Academy of Neuro-sciences’, Annals of Neurosciences publishes wide-ranging original research results, reviews and opinions aimed at increasing our understanding of the neurosciences, molecule, Cognitive sciences, Psychiatric and psychological disorders, Substance abuse, special areas of child women & geriatric Mental Health and encouraging the development of better diagnostic tools and effective treatments for neurological and psychiatric disorders . The journal brings together information on computational and experimental studies, translational research, and clinical care. The Journal accepts papers such as research articles, reviews, commentaries, book reviews, molecular images, reports, student's perspectives on published reports in the form of journal clubs and views.
It also includes editorials on Policy which may include Intellectual property, Technology commercialization and interdisciplinary issues. The following classifications and topics related to it will be considered for publication in ANNALS OF NEUROSCIENCES: (1) Neurosciences (2) Cognitive and Organic disorders

Journal is committed to the rapid publication of original findings that increase our understanding of the molecular structure, genetics, function, behavior, physiology, toxicology and development of the nervous system. Experimental papers should have implications for the neurological disorders and may report results using any of a variety of approaches including anatomy, theory, biophysics, in vitro systems, imaging, and molecular biology. Papers investigating the physiological mechanisms underlying pathologies of the nervous system, or papers that report novel technologies of interest to researchers in neurosciences are also welcome. The criteria for acceptance of manuscripts will be scientific excellence, originality, adherence to ethical committee, defiance of dogma based on sound evidence and relevance to the field of neuroscience based on peer review of manuscripts.

We encourage authors to define the established principles and policies that defy the norms and to argue against accepted dogma. The Editor in Chief will make a final decision on the acceptance of the manuscript and would be under no obligation to seek further opinions. Our intent is that this publication becomes a gateway through which a wide array of information can be accessed in a single periodical. The goal is to provide peer-reviewed and rapid communications that will foster clearer understanding of the Neuro-sciences, generation of better diagnostic tools, encourage journalism among young scientists and development of effective cures for Neurological disorders. All experiments described in the Annals of Neurosciences that involve the use of animal or human subjects must have been approved by the appropriate institutional review committee and conform to accepted ethical standards.

This journal flipped to open access in 2019. Content from 2005-2015 is hosted here and from 2016-2018 is hosted here. All material published before 2019 is free access. Please see this page for information on reuse rights of archival material.

Following a preliminary triage to eliminate submissions unsuitable for Annals of Neurosciences all papers are sent out for review. The covering letter is important. To help the Editor in their preliminary evaluation, please indicate why you think the paper suitable for publication. If your paper should be considered for fast-track publication, please explain why.
The journal’s policy is to have manuscripts reviewed by two expert reviewers. Annals of Neurosciences utilizes a single-blind peer review process in which the reviewer’s names and information are withheld from the author. Reviewers may at their own to reveal their names to the author their our standard policy practice is for their identities to remain concealed. All manuscripts are reviewed as rapidly as possible, while maintaining rigor. the author and recommendations to the Editor-in-Chief who then makes the final decision.
Annals of Neurosciences is committed to delivering high quality, fast peer-review your paper, and as such has partnered with Publons. that seeks to track, verify and give credit for peer review. Reviewers for Annals of Neurosciences can opt in to Publons in order to claim their reviews or have them automatically verified and added to their reviewer profile. 4.2 Authorship

Papers should only be submitted for consideration once consent is given by all contributing authors. Those submitting papers should carefully check that all those whose work contributed to the paper are acknowledged as contributing authors.

The list of authors should include all those who can legitimately claim authorship. This is all those who:

  1. Made a substantial contribution to the concept or design of the work; or analysis or interpretation of data,
  2. Drafted the article or revised it critically for important intellectual content,
  3. Approved the version to be published,
  4. Each author should have participated sufficiently in the work to take public responsibility for appropriate portions of the content.

Authors should meet the conditions of all of the points above. When a large, group has conducted the work, the group should identify the individuals who accept direct responsibility for the manuscript. These individuals should fully meet the criteria for authorship.

Acquisition of funding, collection of data, or general supervision of the research does not constitute authorship, although all contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be listed in the Acknowledgments section. Please refer to the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) authorship guidelines for more information on authorship.

If the named authors for a manuscript change at any point between submission and acceptance, an Authorship Change Form must be completed and digitally signed by all authors (including any added or removed) . For research articles, authors are also required to state in the methods section whether participants provided informed consent and whether the consent was written or verbal.

Information on informed consent to report individual cases or case series should be included in the manuscript text. A statement is required regarding whether written informed consent for patient information and images to be published was provided by the patient(s) or a legally authorized representative.
