A useful general guide for qualitative analysis, suitable for all levels of undergraduate student

I have adopted this book as a required reading for my coursework Masters Students from 2014 onwards (I will recommend it for my current 2013 students). I will also be using it as a required reading for all my full Masters and PhD students, as well as ordering 2 copies for each of the 2 libraries on each of the campuses where our degree programmes run. I have also given samples to the other lecturers in our department who teach research methodology courses at both the undergrad and postgrad levels.
I appreciate the concise and specific focus of this book, and the qualitative research series it is part of. This book is user friendly and practical and so I think that the students will respond well to it. Due to the concise focus of each book on various aspects of qualitative research, the books are more affordable, applicable and relevant for coursework masters and honours students specifically. This book speaks directly to my students in terms of what they need to know and by providing practical guidelines for how to progress with their qualitative research.
There is most definitely a need for options such as these shorter and content-specific books for honours and coursework masters students as they are focusing on more specific approaches to research. It is also valuable for students who have limited financial budgets and who also find the broader and more extensive research manuals to be confusing and largely inapplicable for their research needs.

A useful resource for undergraduate students to understand the process of analysing qualitative data when considering research methods and writing research assignments on the understanding of research processes.

Excellent book for our students to get to grips with qualitative research.

This is a very readable text which is appropriate to the level and experience of the students involved in the module, and contains useful examples and tables which help clarify some of the issues of qualitative research. I have used this in conjunction with some of the video clips of Graham Gibbs talking about coding and thematic analysis issued by the University of Huddersfield. However, not all of the students on our research methods modules will use qualitative approaches as opposed to quantitative, so it is a recommended text as opposed to essential.

This book was recently recommended to myself during a methods seminar - as I find it very suitable as an introduction to qualitative analysis I included it in the reading list for students of occupational therapy. The content is clearly structured, the required information can be quickly retrieved and the text is easy to understand even if your first language is not English.

This text will be a valuable resource for the research mthods module for level 5 tourism and evetns students. It will be used during workshops and assist students understand the basics of coding data. This series is a great addition as they are straightforward and not overwhelming to students unfamiliar with research methods.

This is a very useful book for analysing qualitative data. It takes the reader through codes, indexes thematic coding and categorising in a way that makes qualitative data easy to manage. The section introducing transcribed data into software programs makes the book a must for contemporary qualitative analysis.
