This text is designed to stimulate thought through focus on controversies in ageing. Whilst the central theme is care, the book has proved useful for introducing sports undergraduates to current themes and issues in this area at a time when different approaches to growing older are being considered by sport and exercise scientists as well as other disciplines. The questions at the end of each chapter were easily adapted to different contexts.
An outstanding text in every respect, the text is a comprehensive resource for any course exploring aspects relating to ageing. It is ideal for all levels of courses exploring aspects of ageing. The text covers both the physiological and social aspects of ageing.
It is essential for any course examining the impacts of ageing and is ideal for students of all levels, ranging from BTEC, A Levels and undergraduate courses.
Being strongly considered for Fall 2017
Had used previous version. Like that it deals with contemporary issues of older adults and what's to come in the future for this aging population.

I would recommend this book to all health care professional lecturers/teachers. It looks at the subject of aging with compassion and wisdom
It is the perfect format for the class I am teaching, an advanced undergraduate class aimed at critically examining current issues in aging. The book combines great background information with supplementary articles written from a variety of perspectives and genres.
Overall coverage of topic and up to date social issues
Nothing wrong with the book in itself. It's just that we've decided we want a book with a more psychological approach.
This interesting and useful textbook is now in its 8th edition . It effectively explores controversies and key concepts within ageing in an interesting and effective way . It explores the social model to ageing in a helpful and interesting way allowing the reader to explore thier own attitudes and prejudices within the process . It whilst focusiing on American social policy helpfully takes an integrated global perspective . I have no hesitation in recommending it as a text book .
Best text I've seen for graduate critical thinking in aging issues.
Good book for this stage and creating interest
Interesting concepts and the book covers all aspects of aging. I would recommend the book for those who are interested in a career working with the elderly or students who are studying the concepts of age.
