"The authors have successfully integrated a technical and well rounded discussion of the evolution of mixed methods research balanced with practical application examples of using mixed methods for the pragmatic researcher."
This book provides essential knowledge on mixed methods research and is useful for undergraduate and postgraduate study.
Very accessible text which clearly lays out the approach in a critical manner.
This is an excellent book for teaching postgraduate students about the different types of mixed method approaches, along with a critique of their use in behavioural sciences.
The book does cover elements of research for Bsc (Hons) students completing a dissertation and needing to understand research however the terminology is complicated particularly for the level required. The book may be of better use for those who have already been involved with research in parts.
A very interesting approach for mixed methods.
Provides the needed foundation of Mixed Methods Research.
The book well deserves the title foundations. The authors' use of exemplar works and typical study examples emphasizes the important aspects of mixed methods (MM) research. By doing so, they keep novices from misinterpreting MM, while deepening more experienced users' understanding.
An excellent read for all researchers whether engaging in mixed methods or not. I particularly like section one.
Too advanced for the level of student - level 5
Foundations of Mixed Methods Research Integrating Quantitative and Qualitative Approaches in the Social and Behavioral Sciences by Charles Teddlie and Abbas Tashakkori, is an essential reference for novice and expert researcher of Mixed method research.
I would totally recommend Handbook of mixed methods in social and behavioral research by Sage instead of this book
Foundations of mixed methods research is a rather important text; not for undergraduates but essential for post-graduate study; especially in terms of Masters by research and PhD; proper level 7 & 8 if you like.
Clearly written, gives a great impression of what mixed methods entail. It is useful for an advanced course as you have to have a bit of a background in both qualitative and quantitative research to understand it. The reason I didn't adopt it is because mixed methods are no longer a part of the curriculum.
Useful in clarifying student's position when considering this combined approach.
This book is now part of the recommended literature
This is an excellent text book- provides the students/researchers with the necessary information regarding the mixed method research. I recommend this book to all midwifery postgraduate students.
A very good book which will enhance students' research in mixed design
shall be a reference guide for myself as instructor. thank you.
The authors present a balanced view of the paradigms associated with QUAL and QUAN methods.
