Nasrul Ismail is a social scientist with research interests in the fields of political economy, public health, criminology, and law. His current interdisciplinary research investigates the impact of macroeconomic austerity on prison health in England. It is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). To date, Nasrul has published more than 30 papers in leading academic journals, including the BMC Public Health, Journal of Public Health, and Journal of Medical Ethics. He also teaches MSc Public Health and BA Criminology at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) at the University of Bristol.
