Esra M. Al-Khasawneh Sultan Qaboos University, Oman
Dr. Esra M. Al-Khasawneh is the dean of College of Nursing, Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. She was awarded DNSc on Women’s Health from University at Buffalo, The State University of New York/School of Nursing, and a Fulbright Scholarship at Columbia. She is also a fellow of American Academy of Nursing. In her academic career spanning two decades, she demonstrated a zealous interest in women’s health research and health advocacy for women and championed women’s empowerment goals, public health research, and application of research in service delivery. Her most recent project aims to raise general public awareness about women’s health issues while promoting women’s empowerment and ownership of health, as well as advocate for appropriate policies and programs tailored to women’s health. She received various grants to conduct and publish numerous studies relevant to women’s health at American, Jordanian, and Omani institutes. She believes that nursing is the frontline of public health practice. She is passionate about employing and researching teaching innovations and ensuring that today’s nursing students are up to the chore of being the leading public health practitioners of tomorrow.
