In addition this book contains several thinking points which carry the reader to reflect on their own learning.
Outdoor provision does not always get the high profile it should. This text is an excellent point of reference for all who work with young children.
As we look to developing trainees ideas about the place of play and physical activity outside of the classroom, this resource will be recommended. The case studies will help the trainees to picture scenarios that they can then discuss to extend their understanding. Whilst the chapter on ‘Challenge, Risk and Safety’ is important it is good to see that the value and importance of outdoor play dominates the book and focusses the attention of the reader onto the positives of outdoor play for the early years.
