Not enough connection to class topics and the course focus for this advanced graduate level program. Text for the course I am teaching requires a stronger "applications focus" on leadership theory and standards.
The book provides a well written introduction to key elements of personal development. But, I lack a critical attitude towards the material it presents. Fx. when it does not present to the reader the important controversies surrounding the themes/techniques that the book presents (regarding personality indexing, performance measurements, NLP-communication, at so on). Hence, the book has tendencies towards looking more like a popular self-help book than an academic introduction to professional development in leadership.
A well written and well structured book. Some interesting chapters. It is a book that you can dip and out. Well recommended for leaders or aspiring leaders in education. Some excellent professional development ideas which incorporate theory in addition to practice.
