Crime prevention is an important component of an overall strategy to lower crime rates in American cities, towns, and neighborhoods. At the same time, there is a pressing need for developmental, community, and environmental prevention programs and policies to do more to bring about social impact and social justice. Crime prevention that prioritizes social impact is about harnessing the knowledge of evidence-based interventions and fostering systems change that is both meaningful and lasting.
